Padel, often translated as "cage tennis" or "paddle tennis" in Chinese,
is a modern racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash,
and has been developing rapidly worldwide in recent years.
The court: The match is played on an enclosed court that is 20 meters long and 10 meters wide (for doubles) or 6 meters x 20 meters (for singles), approximately one-third the size of a standard tennis court. The court is surrounded by metal mesh and tempered glass walls, allowing the ball to bounce off the walls after landing once and continue the game.
Equipment: Players use stringless, flat, short-bodied carbon fiber rackets with regularly spaced holes in the racket face; the balls used in the match are specially designed balls with air pressure 15% lower than standard tennis balls to reduce bounce height.
Rules: The scoring system is the same as in tennis, but serves must be underhand and the ball's bounce height must be below waist level; only one wall rebound is allowed per shot, and consecutive hits against the wall are not permitted.
