How to remove snow and ice from artificial turf

In winter when the weather is very cold or snowy, we recommend taking some steps to take care of your artificial lawn.

To remove snow from your lawn, I recommend using a plastic snow shovel to remove most of the snow and then using a hard broom to remove the rest. The use of salt is not recommended as it can leave grit on the grass which can cause discoloration or potential drainage problems and grit can block water escape.

There's no harm in leaving the snow on the grass. In fact, snow can work for you and keep your grass clean well. Remember, once the snow has melted, lift the fibers with a plastic rake or electric brush. Unlike real lawns, which can look muddy, gray and scary after snow, your artificial lawn will look great.

Melting snow can really highlight the quality of your foundation work. Good foundation works, like the ones we place, will be able to cope with snow melt, water will go through the grass and through the foundation works without any trouble. Poor foundation installation, need I say more...

Artificial grass does not freeze

Artificial grass is a very durable product that will not freeze and become brittle even if the temperature plummets to -10°C or less. What could happen is that the water could be on the fibers of the grass, and then those fibers could freeze. Like any other icy surface, this will become slippery, so we advise you to be careful when walking on the grass at this time.
